Tairan Hao (b. 1998) is a multimedia artist and designer whose practice spans sculpture, time-based media, digital programming, and interactive installation. His work investigates how the functionality, purpose, and use of everyday objects are reshaped in an era of constant technological progress, seeking a form that endures beyond the objects themselves, holding what they once made possible: their uses, their gestures, their quiet presence in daily life.

Hao has had solo exhibitions at Beijing Today Art Museum, and his work has been included in exhibitions at the Wuhan Biennale, EFA Project Space, and Williamsburg Art & History Center, among others. In 2020, he founded STUDIO®, a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the research and development of art objects that has sophisticated functionality and public interactive installations. STUDIO® works to bridge the gap between art and public accessibility through innovative modes of interaction, and to date has been granted over ten utility patents pushing the boundaries of form, function, and social relevance in contemporary art.

Hao holds a BFA from California College of the Arts and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. He currently lives and works in Irvine, California.
